Testimonials
Teachers and students love the book and presentation. Here are a few of their quotes.
"It was wonderful to have Pam visit our fifth grade class today. She reinforced the writing topics/process that we have studied in class so the presentation was meaningful to the students. It also serves as a springboard for future writing sessions. The students loved hearing the back-story “behind the scenes” of the characters and writing the book and all the details that were put into the illustrations. After the visit, I noticed that the students are using more figurative language in their writing and being more observant of the use of it in the novel we are reading."
- Kim Nickel (5th Grade Teacher)
"Pam Olivieri’s visit to our second-grade classes was an absolute delight! She read her beautifully written book, Pappy’s Butterfly, captivating the students with her storytelling. Pam went above and beyond by sharing behind-the-scenes insights about the book, which fascinated the kids and made the story come to life. During her visit, Pam introduced the class to figurative language, focusing on similes in a way that was engaging and easy to understand. The hands-on activities she planned were a highlight. We made a butterfly craft that tied beautifully to the story, and the kids had so much fun acting out the butterfly life cycle. She left a lasting impression, and we can’t wait to have her back again! I highly recommend her for any classroom! "
-Brenda Early (2nd Grade Teacher)
"As an elementary school librarian, I am always looking for great stories that students across multiple grades will fall in love with. Pappy’s Butterfly is a touching story of perseverance and determination. The bright, colorful illustrations perfectly complement the text that can be used to help teach not only the life cycle of a butterfly but countless other literary topics."
- Linda B.
"This book is a teacher’s dream! Full of rich vocabulary and figurative language that provides a wealth of teachable moments in & outside the classroom! As an educator, I love how a book provides opportunities to supplement with my curriculum, but also supports SEL opportunities! This book should be in every elementary teacher’s library!"
